Mike McKenna – NHL Goalie

Former: Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Colombus Blue Jackets, Arizona Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Mike left home at 16 to play junior hockey for the Springfield Junior Blues of the NAHL. Before leaving town, he played for Kirkwood Stars, and the St Louis AAA Blues. Mike attended and also played goal for Parkway South High School.

Played four years of NCAA Division I college hockey at St. Lawrence University, earning rookie of the year, most improved, and most valuable player during his tenure from 2001-2005.

Drafted in the 6th round, number 172 overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Mike spent time between the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL and the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. Earned rookie of the month honors for December in the ECHL, and was selected to the ECHL all-star team.

Mike signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning in February of 2009. He made his NHL debut on February 3, 2009 versus the New York Islanders, relieving starter Karri Ramo. The following day, he made his first NHL start in goal on February 4 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. McKenna earned his first NHL win and shutout on February 7th with a 28 save, 1-0 home win against the New York Islanders less than a week into his NHL career. Mike won 7 NHL games in his career.
